7th Steinway Youth Piano Competition

THE 7TH STEINWAY YOUTH PIANO COMPETITION

In 2025, the 7th edition of the Steinway Youth Piano Competition will take place, dedicated to young aspiring musicians aged 17 and below. The winner of the National Finals will advance to the Regional Finals, where they will vie for the opportunity to represent Southeast Asia at the International Steinway Festival 2025 in Hamburg.

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL STEINWAY FESTIVAL

The Steinway Festival, established in 1987, is a prestigious biennial event organized by Steinway & Sons in Hamburg, Germany. This festival aims to identify, encourage, and promote young pianists in the formative stages of their careers. Every two years, selected pianists from various regions are invited to Hamburg to participate in an exciting program, offering valuable opportunities for cultural exchange and musical growth. The festival provides these young talents with the experience of performing on stage without the pressure of competition, fostering a supportive and inspiring environment.

THE COMPETITION

The competition seeks to identify, nurture, and promote young aspiring pianists in the development stages of their careers. In the national competitions, local Steinway dealers will administer countrywide auditions in the following Asian countries: Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam (Auditions for China and Japan are managed under separate auspices).

The Philippine Steinway Youth Piano Competition (PSYPC) brings together pianists from across the Philippines, offering them a unique opportunity to connect and engage. Participants can choose to compete in the Advanced Class, where the Grand Prize Winner will have the honor of representing the country at the Southeast Asia Regional Finals. Alternatively, pianists of all skill levels are also invited to join the Intermediate Class, where they can showcase their progress and development in their musical journey.

  • The Advanced class is only opened to all Filipino Citizens and Permanent Residents* aged 17 and below.
  • The Intermediate class is opened to all nationalities currently residing in the Philippines.
  • Applicants for the Intermediate category may not perform, teach, or compose music for primary professional pursuit or financial benefit.
  • Previous winners of Steinway Youth Piano Competition are not eligible to participate in the same age category in previous participation.
  • The registration fee is payable upon application and is non-refundable.
  • All decisions of the Jury are final.
* Filipino citizens and permanent residents must be residing in the Philippines throughout the duration of the competition.
